Head of Corporate Communications, EMEA – Uber

About the Role

At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 600 cities around the world.

We believe the most successful consumer technology companies are brilliant storytellers who ensure that their products – as well as the benefits of these products – are central to every communication. Our team is responsible for telling Uber’s story to a wide range of media and external audiences across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

We are looking for someone to lead our Corporate Communications in EMEA, based in Amsterdam.

What You’ll Do

Design and manage the Corporate Communications Strategy for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and support the regional communications team on corporate issues and crises.

Support the Vice President International Rides and the regional leadership team with speaking engagements, media interviews, speech writing, etc.
Build and maintain relationships with international key journalists across the region to tell the story around Uber as a company, our growth, challenges and opportunities in EMEA.

Support the EU policy team by creating a communications strategy that supports our EU objectives. Manage, create and shape news cycles around topics such as the gig economy, sustainability, and regulatory and legal issues.

Work closely with the local Marketing, Operations, Legal, Engineering teams to help amplify the important work that they do.

What You’ll Need

Self starter: Uber is a company of entrepreneurs and we want to work with people who enjoy building things from the bottom up too. Stuff changes fast in our world so you’ll need to be highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure.

Great advocate: We’re looking for people who can distill complex ideas into simple, but intellectually credible, arguments. You’ll need to write well and have the creative ability to tell stories–about our product, people and the ways we’re helping to improve life for passengers, drivers and cities.

Experienced spokesperson: Strong media relations experience and expertise shaping a story and delivering it in a compelling way

Team player: We’re looking for people who enjoy working with others to get stuff done–and who can deal with the ambiguity that sometimes comes from working cross-functionally.
Proven track record with at least 8-10 years experience in communications, PR or journalism — either for a company, a third party or in government — as well as experience working firsthand with executives.

Experience in corporate, product, internal and crisis communications is an advantage; as is prior experience operating in a hyper-growth technology or start up organization.

About the Team

Our team is responsible for telling Uber’s story, whether it’s transforming how we think about food delivery, helping small businesses grow by opening virtual doors to the best restaurants in a city, or lowering the barriers to entry for the people who value independent, flexible work. That’s particularly relevant for our employees, helping them to understand what we stand for and the positive impact we can have in the communities we serve.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.
