Transport Policy Officer – Sunderland City Council

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Transport Planning Team at a time of significant change in transport policy. With a new focus at the national policy level on the decarbonisation of transport there are opportunities to further develop our policies on sustainable and public transport as well as the utilisation of technology to advance the use of electric vehicles, improve traffic management and deliver Mobility as a Service.

Tees Valley Combined Authority has published its Strategic Transport Plan and the Transport Policy Officer will work with colleagues in the Council and across the Tees Valley to develop the policies and implement the initiatives to deliver the outcomes.

A key priority in the first 12 months will be the development of Darlington’s Local Implementation Plan (LIP), to set out the local transport priorities, objectives and an action plan to deliver them.

The Transport Policy Officer will lead the consultation process and collate monitoring information and other evidence to inform the development of the LIP.

The Officer will review monitoring information on an ongoing basis to inform the delivery of the wider transport programme.

The Officer will manage resources and budgets for various projects and programmes. These vary but may include the Local Walking and Cycling Infrastructure Plan and Electric Vehicle Charging Point programme.
